Re Open Singles Squash Tournament 6 & 7 September

Two weeks tomorrow our largest tournament in many years will begin, running over the whole weekend 6 & 7th September. Substantial prize money provided by our sponsors, MKM and BSW Window Solutions, has successfully attracted world class players like Nick Wall, Millie Tomlinson and George Parker to the Pro event. There will also be top amateurs from around the UK competing against some of our home-grown talent, plus a junior tournament (held on Sunday). Be sure to come along and give support to those you know regardless of level.
Besides top level squash, what else is on offer on the Saturday? Warm and cold food will be available and the bar will be open all day from 9.00am. The finals for the Pro events will be early Saturday evening followed by the presentations and this will be rounded off with a disco by Perfect Sounds from 7.00pm. Everyone is most welcome to join and socialise.
On Sunday the amateur event continues alonside the junior tournament and again food will be available during the day. Trophy presentations are expected to be around 5.00pm.
On a more serious note, parking could well be at a premium on the day, so can we ask that as many people as possible (including gym-goers) travel to the club either on foot or bike, or car share. For those who are travelling a distance, can they park with consideration or, where necessary, park nearby on Harlaxton Road, so visiting players have more chance of a place in the car park.
In preparation for the event four of the six courts are being cleaned and we thank you for your patience and understanding as we have had to move court bookings around. Courts 3 and 4 are available again, while Court 1 will be available from tomorrow. Court 2 will be out of action Thursday and Friday next week. If you have any concerns about a booking, please contact the club.
We very much hope that everyone who is or has been connected to the club feel inclined to come and watch. You will be made to feel welcome by our staff and team of volunteers. Worth also remembering that we have a lift for anyone who may be infirm or less able-bodied.
